WINE OF THE MONTH

South Australia's first vineyards were established in the 1830's. Enjoying a wide range of climates including the cool temperatures of the Adelaide Hills, to the hot summer weather of the Barossa Valley, South Australia is arguably Australia's most diverse wine producing state.

It is from these wonderfully diverse regions that Tim Burvill selects the best varietals to produce Mojo wines. Mojo wines are in keeping with Winemaker Tim Burvill's power-packed fruit driven style.

Mojo Sauvignon Blanc 2008
Sauvignon Blanc is produced from Adelaide Hills fruit. It is mainly the altitude that is the key to the climate; with Mount Lofty and the Piccadilly Valley being much cooler than the city of Adelaide, only 25 minutes drive away. Stylistically the Adelaide Hills, produces clean crisp whites, with great acidity. It is these naturally occurring flavours that Tim tries to capture in every bottle.

Mojo Shiraz 2006
Mojo Shiraz, comes from the Barossa Valley, which is one of the Australia's best known regions with a rich winemaking history dating back to 1847. The moderately continental climate provides the ideal conditions for a wide number of grape varieties especially the production of full-bodied reds. It is these unique growing conditions and the natural sunlight, which Tim tries to capture in Mojo Shiraz.

FEATURE WINES

R' De ruinart
40% Chardonnay, 60% Pinot Noir, with 25% reserve wines used in the blend. Pale golden colour, the nose is subtle, reserved and refined. The Pinot component giving the palate more structure of red berries, citrus, and candied peel. Elegance is very much the hallmark of the house- and this is very, very fine.

Chandon Brut
40% Chardonnay, 60% Pinot Noir, with 25% reserve wines used in the blend. Pale golden colour, the nose is subtle, reserved and refined. The Pinot component giving the palate more structure of red berries, citrus, and candied peel. Elegance is very much the hallmark of the house- and this is very, very fine.

Cape Mentelle Georgiana
Blend of Chenin Blanc, chardonnay, sauvignon blanc and semillon, bright and refreshing, the blend combines sweet tropical fruit with cleansing citrus to create the perfect summer white.

Mr Riggs Riesling
Made as an off-dry German style Riesling. A delicate nose with floral notes and citrus blossom, and a palate much like biting into a fresh Jonathon apple has made for an entrancing combination of sweetness and tang with a wonderful crispness and balance.

Cape Mentelle Marmaduke:
A Shriaz grenache Blend with a hint of Mataro, this wine is made in the classic Cotes du Rhone style. Spicy aromaticS from the Shiraz harmonise with the textural palate of the Grenache, making this a interesting and approachable style.
