To compliment some of the De Bortolio wines, Chef Adam Head has prepared some recipes including Duck Ragu with Fettuccine, Korean BBQ Quail, BBQ Prawns and Steam Mussels with Crusty Bread to be paired with La Bohème Act Two Dry Pinot Noir Rosé. 2. VALLEY FIESTA
Valley Fiesta returns to Brisbane for its 21st birthday this October 27 - 28. Presented by Brisbane City Council this is Brisbane’s biggest FREE music festival so make sure to check it out!
This 18+ event is located throughout venues in Fortitude Valley and there is an amazing artist line-up including The Jungle Giants, Fatman Scoop, The Creases, Port Royal, The Jensens and many, many more.
Fortitude Valley has something to suit everyone’s tastes, from American-style burgers to Thai or Mexican cuisine, venues will satisfy any food craving. There is a multi-cultural showcase in Chinatown mall from Friday and Saturday nights with a range of acts, battles and workshops. Finally, on Saturday afternoon Valley Fiesta will host the Queensland Music Awards, recognizing the depth and diversity of Queensland Songwriters across all musical genres.

3. BLEDISLOE CUP
Since its inception in 1931, the rivalry between Australia and New Zealand for the Bledisloe Cup has been one of the greatest in sporting history. The passion and intensity on the field is matched only by the fans who attend the game - hoping to witness their team prevail with the Cup and mark their place in Rugby history.
The All Blacks have won the first two Tests and thus won the Bledisloe Cup for the fifteenth consecutive year. This year final game of the three-game season is held in Brisbane at Suncorp Stadium in Milton on October 21st and tickets are limited within the sections, so be sure to book fast to get down and support the boys in the final game.
4. AMERICAN EXPRESS OPENAIR CINEMAS
American Express Openair Cinemas is bringing more than movies to Brisbane and the Gold Coast this Spring, as an exciting festival program of food, fun and flicks is revealed, with American Express cardholders receiving a range of exclusive benefits. Purveyors of fine food and authentic Italian cuisine, Salt Meats Cheese will be transporting diners to the streets of Rome as they host a series of alfresco long table dinners. A delicious three-course meal paired with wine will be served at three pop-up events at each location. There is also a signature Truffle Pecorino Pasta; cheesy truffle pasta tossed through a wheel of truffle pecorino, finished with a grating of extra truffle pecorino, along with their arancini antipasti and wood-fired pizzas. The drinks are taken care of too with a dedicated cocktail bar serving a refreshing twist on summer classics, 4Pines craft beer and Giesen Wine.
The festival vibes will be in full swing each night with an array of alternative entertainment, live music and DJ performances before the latest and greatest feature films light up the big screen.
Over at ‘Crafty Corner’ guests will have the chance to ‘Pimp a Pineapple’ or enjoy masterclasses in knitting, macrame and more. Plus, learn how to style it like a pro, with hands-on hair braiding tutorials. If you’re short of company, ‘Doggy Dates’ will give visitors the chance to pat a pooch during the movie, with all proceeds going to support the RSPCA.

5. BRISBANE POWERHOUSE OCTOBER SHOWS
Brisbane Powerhouse is Queensland’s home for contemporary culture, a magnificent power station of the 1920s reborn as an arts center on the Brisbane River. With over 1,250 performances and events each year, Brisbane Powerhouse are one of the busiest arts venues in the Asia-Pacific region offering a year-round program featuring music, comedy, Writers + Ideas, dance, film, visual arts, cabaret, circus, and theatre.
Some October event highlights includes ‘Smashing’ presented by the comedian Kitty Flanagan October 5 to 15. Love songs, sex, algorithms, chimps, clowns and psychics – everything is getting “smashed”. Another event is the Jan Powers Farmers Markets which are on every Saturday 6am-12pm. Featuring over 120 stalls, the markets are bustling with fresh farm produce, flowers, artisan products, breads, pastries, meat, fish, poultry and plants.
Our final event pick is ‘The Last Five Years’, a musical theatre production presented by Wax Lyrical Production from October 7 – 14. It’s easy to fall in love with Kurt Phelan (Dirty Dancing) and Lizzie Moore (Kiss Me Kate) in this heart-breaking musical two-hander, as they re-trace their relationship from opposite ends. 6. QUEENSLAND BALLET PETER PAN
