Rusalka
Inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s The Little Mermaid, Rusalka is a fairytale opera of longing and transformation. When the luminous water-nymph Rusalka falls in love with a Prince, she abandons everything she has known in search of true freedom—only to discover that the path to desire is fraught with sacrifice. Dvořák’s shimmering score weaves together sweeping romance and Czech folk melodies, uplifted by the spellbinding aria Song to the Moon. Presented by Opera Queensland, this grand production brings together the artistic scale and emotional intensity you won’t want to miss.
